OUR GOAL IS TO GIVE BACK
We love to compete against some of the best teams in Texas BBQ, but our real desire it to use the gifts God has given us to benefit others in the community. Below are just a few events we have done:
RIBS & 'RITAS FUNDRAISER
Each year we cook for Ribs & 'Ritas, the primary fundraiser for the First Chance Foundation, a non-profit organization benefitting abandoned, abused, and neglected children. We team up with ten other competition BBQ teams to cook for approximately 300 people at this annual fundraiser.
WAKE THE WORLD
For the past several years we have had the opportunity to cook for a great event at Canyon Lake called Wake the World Texas. The organization's goal is to provide a fun day at the lake for children of local children's homes. After a long day of boating, approximately 150 kids, volunteers, and staff members come together for a BBQ dinner.
BELIEVERS BUYERS GROUP
Every year we cook for the annual golf tournament for the Believers Buyers Group, a group of people raising money for kids in agriculture. The goal of the organization is to be the biggest and most significant buyer for the youth at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Jr. Livestock Auction. This golf tournament is the biggest fundraiser of the year.
HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF EFFORT
As part of the relief effort for Hurricane Harvey, we teamed with Santikos Entertainment to assist in feeding those affected by the hurricane. We recruited a dozen competition BBQ teams to cook and provide meals to those in need. Through coordination with the San Antonio Food Bank, we were able to feed all evacuees housed in San Antonio, as well as relief efforts in Victoria, Refugio, and Rockport. This initiative allowed us to witness the best of humanity as we saw people give willingly of their time, talent, and treasure to provide 5,000 meals over a two-day period!
HOME AGAIN ... ONE BRIQUETTE AT A TIME!
As residents of the Texas Gulf Coast rebuilt from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey, we gathered a team together to deliver a grill package to 250 families who make the Texas Gulf Coast their permanent residence. Our goal was simple ... to help them feel like they were home again by bringing them around a familiar setting, a backyard grill. Thanks to the incredible generosity of companies like Weber Grills, Urban Concrete (one of our sponsors), and others who donated products to give these 250 families an amazing grill package, we were able to help our fellow Texans feel like they were HOME AGAIN ... one briquette at a time!
BACK TO SCHOOL BACKPACK EVENT!
We had the privilege in 2019 to cook for the annual backpack event for H.I.S. BridgeBuilders in San Antonio. This group is a movement of God uniting Christians across cities to transform urban communities through education, health, employment, and spiritual development for the glory of God. Each year they host a community event to provide backpacks to children in need, and we had the honor of catering lunch for hundreds of kids and their families.
